I’m battling to keep focused on doing / creating artwork, because of a bunch of other stuff claiming my time and energy like cleaning the house, doing favors for friends, cooking and shopping.
How do other artists do it?
Do they have an independent income, or house cleaners or a partner who does all the necessary day-to-day stuff for them?
I made a start on “Luka” this afternoon, even though I was quite tired. This is what he looks like so far.
Quite interesting looking at this point, but want to finish it anyway. Lets see what tomorrow brings!

I liked the colors, very colorful, and the shapes, I like a painting in the early stages…
As for managing time and money…:) for art and life in general, not easy, I have to rely on my own income alone, I’m not selling much works…but I managed to reduce my work week to 4 days a week, sometimes 3, but of course it meant cutting on many things, of course I can do this because I don’t have a family life, no house, no car to pay for, I am lucky to have an appartment with a low rent, it does help…I tried to give art lessons at home, but I found it difficult…so I’m still looking for some way to improve this, because I feel I do need more time to paint. Another aspect is that I found it difficult to keep in touch with friends, most of them make a good living and I cannot afford to go with them…have to make choices where goes my income…I will come to see your blog, so to the next time.

Thanks for your reply – and sorry I can’t do so in French. Your situation sounds very familiar. I have a partner who supports me for my food and lodgings, which is helpful, but all other expenses like paying for my mother who is in frail care is paid for by me. I also get jobs here and there when I can, but feel like I am treading water doing these jobs as I can’t get down to working more on my art. Art gives me energy, other work seems to rob me of energy. It is a huge test of determination to carry on and believe that I will earn enough to support myself, but they say nothing worth having comes easily, so I will just carry :-)) Re friends – yes, that must be very difficult. Good that you are so committed to your work. All the best, and keep at it! I’ll visit your blog again.

I guess most artists are in the same situation, we know it is difficult, but we all find ways to keep producing, and we hope….:) see you soon!
